Matthew’s performance in AND WHEN DID YOU LAST SEE YOUR FATHER? gained him nominations for both a British Independent Film Award and an Evening Standard British Film Award. Matthew’s other film credits include THE IMITATION GAME, AN EDUCATION, JOHNNY ENGLISH STRIKES AGAIN and the lead opposite Karen Gillan in her debut film as a writer/director; THE PARTY’S JUST BEGINNING. Matthew leads BBC2’s historical drama VIENNA BLOOD and can also be seen in Armando Ianucci’s sci-fi comedy AVENUE FIVE (HBO) and Stephen Moffat’s DRACULA (BBC/Netflix). He can currently be seen as a lead in Anthony Horowitz’s MAGPIE MURDERS (Britbox) and recently wrapped a leading role in FUNNY GIRL (Sky).
On stage, Matthew starred in SKYLIGHT directed by Stephen Daldry where he received a Tony nomination for his performance. Matthew played Edmund in the West End in the Young Vic’s critically acclaimed production of LONG DAY’S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT opposite Jeremy Irons and Lesley Manville, which was followed by sell out runs in New York and Los Angeles.
